What
is the duration of the camp?
One week in the June/July school holidays.
It all
started here…..
In 1998 Ria went to Russia as part of her Service
Year for Christ. There they helped with the summer
camps and she realized that the weekend adventure
camps that we in South Africa are used to is not
that productive. On her way back to South Africa
she started to have a dream to do “South
African Summer Camps”.
Ria shared this vision with a
friend that is also in the ministry and they started
to build a vision.
Ideas were shared and the excitement
grew as they started to dream together. Heaven
exploded into a choir of praise because the moment
God himself has been dreaming about has come to
pass.
They decided to work together
on this and to get other people involved that
also has a heart and passion for adventure, camping
and young people. Soon they realized that when
The Dream giver gives you a dream, He will also
give you the excitement and passion to shape the
dream and make it a reality.
Originally it started out to
be a Jabez Camp. They prayed and got the name
Camp Escape with Jabez as the theme for the first
camp in 2002. There were only 20 entries and they
had to decide if they were still going ahead with
this Christian youth camp.
They did, and what a blessing
that was. In 2003 we grew in numbers and there
were 40 young people.
Young people got saved and the
presence of the living God was so powerful there
that everybody there just cried out to God. God
visited those young people and once again He was
faithful to His Word that He gave in 2001.
Psalms 147:2 - 6
2 -6 God's the one who rebuilds Jerusalem, who
re-gathers Israel's scattered exiles.
He heals the heartbroken and bandages their wounds.
He counts the stars and assigns each a name.
Our Lord is great, with limitless strength; we’ll
never comprehend what he knows and does.
In the year 2004 we had young
people from as far as George and Riversdale. This
year, Young People are flooding in from all over
the country.
As one of the young people
